As leaders in business, we often face a challenge: maximizing our team's performance while ensuring that they are happy and fulfilled in their work. All too often, the importance of happiness at work is underestimated, being viewed as an optional extra rather than a fundamental aspect of productivity and success. At The Digitals Group, we have developed a revolutionary approach that starts at the core of the pyramid - an approach we call the Happiness Pyramid.

1. Job Satisfaction

At the base of our pyramid is job satisfaction. This includes the basic aspects of a job that ensure employees are satisfied in their roles. These include fair pay, good working conditions and the opportunity to grow and develop. Without a solid foundation of job satisfaction, it is difficult to continue building a happy and productive workplace. So the onboarding process of your new employee is VERY important.

2. Connection

Once satisfied with their jobs, it is crucial that employees feel connected to their colleagues and the organization as a whole. Connection is about more than just working side by side; it is about building strong relationships, sharing goals and creating a sense of community. When employees feel connected, they are more motivated to work together and contribute to the success of the team.

3. Well-being

It is essential to recognize that employees are more than their work. Their well-being, both physical and mental, plays a major role in their ability to thrive in the workplace. Organizations must actively invest in their employees' well-being through programs and initiatives that focus on health, stress management and work-life balance. When employees feel good about themselves, they are more resilient and better able to meet challenges.

4. Talent

Another important aspect of the Happiness Pyramid is talent management. It is not enough to simply be satisfied with the skills employees currently possess; organizations must actively work to develop and nurture talent. This includes providing training opportunities, career development and mentoring programs. When employees feel they can grow and develop in their jobs, they are more engaged and motivated.

5. Happiness at work

Finally, we come to the apex of the pyramid: happiness at work. When all the previous levels are achieved - job satisfaction, connection, well-being and talent - the result is a work environment in which employees thrive. Happiness at work goes beyond just smiling at work; it is about a deep sense of fulfillment, satisfaction and meaning in what we do. When employees are happy in their work, they are more productive, creative and resilient.

Happiness Officer

One of the most important steps we took was appointing our own Happiness Officer, Marjorie De Schepper, who has been an indispensable part of our team for five years. Marjorie plays a crucial role in fostering a positive work culture. She organizes a variety of events and team-building activities that foster fun and collaboration, and she also handles our internal newsletters, which keep employees up to date on the latest news within our company.

In addition, Marjorie takes care of work anniversaries, ensuring that these milestones do not go unnoticed and our employees feel truly appreciated. For new starters, she puts together welcome packages that not only give them a warm welcome, but also help them feel at home quickly within our team. These initiatives are not one-time efforts, but are an integrated part of our business strategy.
