The Entrepreneurial Adventure of Jinse
The entrepreneurial track is a program that helps entrepreneurs develop their business skills and achieve their business goals. Jinse Camps, a member of our Codana subcompany, has had a new role within the company since this year. He participated in the entrepreneurial program to prepare himself for these new responsibilities, and to gain the necessary knowledge and skills for his strategic tasks and projects. Personal growth is central to The Digitals.
What does entrepreneurship mean to you?
For me, entrepreneurship is not just about getting numbers right at the end of the year; it is much more than that. It means turning my passion into a vision that I carry out with conviction. Entrepreneurship also requires a certain kind of perseverance, where you have the drive to keep going regardless of obstacles. A positive mindset is therefore essential.
How did the entrepreneurial journey help you do that?
The entrepreneurial journey helped me by mainly bringing insight into myself and my knowledge. It taught me that I don't have to reinvent myself to be an entrepreneur, it is always best to start from your strengths instead of your weaknesses. Based on your strengths and interests, that way you can define what kind of entrepreneur you are yourself and how you can contribute to a business.
What attracted you to start the entrepreneurial journey?
The opportunity to learn about what makes a business run was a major motivation for me to start the entrepreneurial program. It provides a unique opportunity to gain insight into various aspects of entrepreneurship that I have not often encountered before. It allows me to expand my knowledge and skills in a wide range of areas.
How did you experience the entrepreneurial journey?
As you progress through the entrepreneurial journey, you learn more and more about yourself. This can be confronting at times, when you sometimes have to face your own insecurities and limitations. Therefore, I certainly suffered from “imposter syndrome” more than once. You begin to doubt your own abilities and wonder if you are in the right place here.
Towards the end of the course, however, I began to reap the benefits of this self-discovery. I felt enriched and gained a deeper understanding of my own strengths and how to make the most of them. This also gave me a clearer picture of how I wanted and could fill my position. It was a challenging but ultimately very rewarding experience.
What was your most enjoyable experience of the past year?
At the start of the entrepreneurial journey, we went down to Renesse. This will always stay with me. I met a tremendously nice group of people there with the same drive and passion.
What was your biggest challenge in entrepreneurship?
The biggest challenge was and is prioritizing and planning. There is so much coming at you on a daily basis that it is essential to pay attention to the most important things and delegate others smartly and efficiently. It's good that you are enthusiastic and want to grasp things, but if you continually make too much hay, you won't last.
What was the biggest entrepreneurial lesson you learned?
- There is a misconception that as a good entrepreneur, you must have a solution to everything. However, no one is a one-man army. Above all, a good entrepreneur knows what he does not know and dares to ask for help and assistance when needed.
- A positive mindset is crucial to success. It helps you to see challenges as opportunities and to persevere even when the going gets tough. Staying positive helps you come up with creative solutions and keeps you motivated. Believe in yourself and your abilities, and surround yourself with people who support and inspire you. An optimistic attitude can make the difference between giving up and succeeding.
Do you have any tips for new entrepreneurs who are also eager to get started?
Don't wait for life to throw something at you. Go for it and follow your passion. Success often comes from taking initiative and showing perseverance. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, because you learn from mistakes. Always stay open to new ideas and keep developing yourself.
